Filipino talents now have created a name in the singing industry inside and out of the country. Different talent search were conducted to look for talented people who are aspiring to become a star. The Philippines two competitive largest network which is ABS-CBN and GMA7 promotes two reality- based competition shows to search for the next singing sensation that will bring pride to the country.
While ABC-CBN has its Pinoy Dream Academy and now on its Season 2 edition, GMA7 promotes its Pinoy Idol from which they both had franchise from a foreign networks.
Pinoy Dream Academy is owned by Endemol, a television production company that is based in Netherlands with subsidiaries and joint ventures in more than 27 countries around the globe. It also owns the Pinoy Big Brother that makes a total hit in all its six seasons and Pilipinas Deal or No Deal that that has been viewed in all its network allies and the educational game show at noon the Pilipinas Game KNBA. It also owns the Fear Factor that soon to have the “Pinoy Fear Factor: South America” Edition that will be shot in Argentina.
Pinoy Idol in the other hand was franchise from FremantleMedia, also known before as All American Television, LBS Communications and Pearson Television, is a production and content division of RTL Groups which is Europe’s largest radio and Production Company that is base in London, England. It owns the popular shows like American Idol, Pop Idol, Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grade?, The Apprentice, The X-factor, Celebrity Duets and Betty la Fea that was already viewed here in the Philippines.
Both shows will test the talents and determination of every Filipino contestant that will give them not only fame but also cash prices, car, house and lot and different gadgets.
On the PDA Season 1, Yeng Constantino was proclaimed as the Grand Star Dreamer and eventually become a successful recording artist right now.
The Pinoy Idol Season 1 winner which was formerly showed in ABC network was Maureen “Mau” Flores but was not recognized as the Philippines first Idol as GMA promoted the first Idol competition in the Philippines. Mau uses the stage name Samantha Brown and was called as “The Philippine Diamond Diva” who represented the country on Asian Idol held in Jakarta, Indonesia last December 15 and 16 2007.
